Technical Sales Engineer
BayoTech’s hydrogen generation systems produce local hydrogen close to the application. This saves customers money and reduces the carbon intensity associated with the legacy challenges of liquifying and transporting hydrogen. This allows BayoTech to serve a diverse set of end users, including traditional consumers in the industrial gas and chemicals industries, as well as those using hydrogen to power fast-growing fuel cell mobility applications.

BayoTech is looking for an experienced candidate with a passion for cleantech and renewable energy to join the BayoTech team as Technical Sales Engineer. This individual will work in Sales and Business Development to secure new business and act as a consultant to help customers select the best possible solutions for their needs. The role will report to the Chief Commercial Officer and work with teams across the company to drive sales, win bids, and develop strategic partnerships.
As Technical Sales Engineer you will:
Interface with Engineering and R&D teams to provide technical expertise in customer discussions to win new business
Ensure good understanding of customer requests and technical project needs
Sell the BayoTech value proposition and proposal to the customer, including technical and economic elements
Develop and issue customer quotes and proposals in consultation with the commercial team Bids & Proposals Manager
Meet, and exceed, annual targets for orders and, in partnership with Sales Operations for lead generation & qualification, for hydrogen generators
Document customer interaction and sales motion in customer relationship management system
Attend or lead new customer site meetings (moderate travel required)
Build knowledge and expertise in adjacent technologies (hydrogen compression, refueling stations, carbon capture, biogas upgrading) to support core sales
Prepare content and give technical presentations to explain to customers how the products and services work.
Work with the customers to craft solutions and overcome customer obstacles of a technical nature
Support broader commercial team in business development and bids/proposals to close sales with especially technical components
Be lead point of contact between commercial and technical teams to resolve technical product questions and document solutions for future sales support
Offer technical customer support and help clients to solve problems with product usage after deployment
Provide market feedback to R&D team on opportunities for new products or solutions to satisfy unmet customer needs
Undergraduate degree in mechanical, chemical, electrical or civil engineering (Master’s degree/equivalent advanced degree preferred)
Minimum 5 years of experience working in the energy industry understanding market drivers and technical challenges in the energy sector; experience in hydrogen a plus
Demonstrated track record of success in selling technical solutions or products, especially first-of-a-kind technologies
Customer facing experience
Strong technical background with ability to understand other technical disciplines
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple technical projects and offer sound technical guidance in a fast paced, pressured environment
Confidence in presenting to prospective customers and at industry events
Experience in translating customer needs into technical solutions
Ability to identify creative commercial, workable solutions
Strong team player
A compelling interest in hydrogen, clean energy, and sustainability
Curiosity and a desire to continuously learn and have a meaningful impact
Attention to detail
High motivation with ability to succeed in a fast-paced, unstructured environment
Discipline and professionalism to thrive in a remote work environment with distributed team
