Pathways to Renewable Hydrogen
Hydrogen has taken its place on the world stage, becoming a key component in the energy transition. The opportunity is significant as demand grows to fuel hydrogen vehicles and supply clean energy. Landfills, wastewater treatment plants, farms, dairies and other industrial and commercial plants all represent significant sources of biogas which can be used to produce biomethane for hydrogen production.
On-site Hydrogen Production
BayoTech’s hydrogen generation units convert biomethane derived from biogas to renewable hydrogen. The compact systems are installed directly at the feedstock source to produce reliable, low-cost, low-carbon hydrogen.
Adding BayoTech’s high-pressure, high-capacity storage and transport options enable highly efficient distribution to local hydrogen users where it’s needed. This dynamic model of local production and distribution puts you at the center of making sustainable, efficient and cost-effective hydrogen.
Realizing the Potential
The waste industry has an important role to play in providing feedstock for hydrogen production. Biogas reforming is often overlooked as a pathway to renewable hydrogen but it has the potential to play a critical role in the global effort toward net-zero emissions. In fact, on-site hydrogen production from biogas is the only way to produce hydrogen with a negative carbon intensity.
If you don’t have a biogas source located near your facility you still have the option to produce renewable hydrogen. Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) can provide you with a pathway to renewable natural gas anywhere you are connected to a pipeline.
24 May 2021, Albuquerque, USA, and London, UK - BayoTech and IBMS Group today announced an agreement to launch the UK’s first renewable hydrogen project using biomethane from food waste as a feedstock.
